MACOM announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and operations of OMMIC SAS

2/08/2023, Fiber Online, MACOM Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor solutions, recently announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and operations of OMMIC SAS(" OMMIC ") through one of its French subsidiaries. OMMIC is a semiconductor manufacturer with Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) processing and design expertise in wafer manufacturing, epitaxy growth, and monolithic microwave Integrated circuit (MMIC) processing and design.

OMMIC is located near Lime-Brevanna, Paris, France, and has more than 40 years of experience in materials science, semiconductor wafer processing and MMIC design. OMMIC has differentiated gallium arsenide (GaAs) and gallium nitride (GaN) compound semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, as well as several semiconductor processes and products certified by the European Space Agency (ESA). OMMIC currently operates a 3-inch wafer line and recently installed a 6-inch wafer line that is not yet operational.

OMMIC's portfolio of high-frequency MMIC products and its design capabilities will enable MACOM to better address microwave applications in telecommunications, industry, and aerospace.

The purchase price of OMMIC, including the real estate and all associated facilities, is approximately EUR 38.5 million, which will be financed by MACOM in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
